Schools for nursery till Class 8 closed in Noida till January 6

The order is directed at private schools where classes are still functioning. All the government schools were observing winter break till Jan 14.

Noida: 26-year-old woman gang-raped near shopping mall, blackmailed; 3 arrested

The alleged gang-rape took place some time back but the complainant approached the cops on December 30 after repeated harassment by the accused.

The FIR was lodged at the Noida Sector 39 Police Station on December 30 after which an investigation took up and three of the accused were arrested.

Noida registered 150,000 new vehicles in 2023, EV sales boomed

Vehicle registrations in Gautam Budh Nagar saw a significant increase in 2023, with a total of 152,073 registrations compared to 122,636 in 2022. The number of electric vehicles doubled, while luxury car registrations also rose. There was a notable increase in two-wheeler, car, and commercial vehicle registrations as well. Uttar Pradesh is leading in the adoption of electric vehicles.

Officials said that in the financial year 2022-23, about 117,000 vehicles were registered in the district. It was higher than the past five years, and an increase of 52% over FY 2021-2022. (PTI)

559 narcotic cases registered in 2023: Police data

There has been a marginal rise in cases of drug and liquor smuggling in Noida and Greater Noida in 2023 compared to last year, according to official statistics. The number of cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act increased by 6% from last year, while cases registered under the Excise Act increased by 11%. The rise in cases is attributed to increased police action and a stronger intelligence network. A highlight of the year was the seizure of 77 kg of methamphetamine and the arrest of 12 foreign nationals.

Amid severe cold weather, 13 shelters for homeless in Noida’s GB Nagar

Thirteen shelters for the homeless have been set up in Greater Noida and Noida in anticipation of a cold wave, with arrangements made for drinking water, toilets, beds, and blankets. Noida, Greater Noida wait for government order on flat buyers registry issue

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has announced its intention to implement a scheme designed to address the woes faced by the real estate sector in Noida and Greater Noida. Under the scheme, defaulting developers will have to pay at least 25 percent of their outstanding dues to obtain permission for registry, mortgage permission, map approval, and additional time to develop their projects. If a developer fails to make use of the scheme or cannot pay the required amount, their assets will be seized by the government. The scheme is expected to benefit at least 3.5 lakh homebuyers.

As per the provisions of the scheme approved by the UP cabinet on Tuesday, if a developer defaults to pay <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>100 crore in a stalled realty project then he will have to pay <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>25 crore upfront to become eligible for the multiple benefits.
